Last day of K and 3rd grade!

The start of a fun and busy weekend.

Started with the last day of school for these kiddos. Bittersweet! Glad for the school chaos to take a break...but nervous for the summer with the kids home while I am working. Also sad that these two are moving onto another year and getting older and older before my eyes. So many new fun adventures as they get older...but missing the adventures of their younger years too.
After school we were loaded up and on our way to IL/IA for the weekend to celebrate Great Grandpa Dick's 90th birthday with family...and stop in IL along the way to visit Great Grandma Jan.
Was a fine drive through MN, and IA...until it got dark and a deer decided to run into us! We were just trucking along on 88 in IA when out of nowhere a deer ran into the driver side front panel and rolled all the way down the back of the truck. Neither of us saw it coming...Ed was driving and maintained control of the truck. We literally looked at each other and said, did that really happen? After a min or two we decided we should pull over and access the damage! Thankfully the vehicle was drivable since it was 10pm in IA. We didn't call the cops, just continued the last 45 min to Moline IL. Talk about an adrenaline rush. This was the pic we took when we pulled over on the highway...not good.
Then once we arrived at Great Grandma Jan's we assessed it further. I sent an email to our insurance agent literally right after it happened to see what the next steps would be.
Great Grandma Jan was up waiting for us, so we chatted with her for a few minutes and then all of us headed off to bed.
