Then this evening we had welcome back conferences to meet Rowan's 3rd grade teacher. Here she is in front of her locker! Her teacher is Mrs. Ulmer! The meet and greet went well. Rowan was evaluated for reading, bus education done (for field trips), supplies dropped off, etc. Should be a good year!

skating by day, school by night
Finally...I found some dead ice time to get Rowan out on hockey skates. Earlier in the summer, we traded her figure skates in for hockey skates because she is interested in trying hockey this fall. But it has been impossible to find open skate at an appropriate time for us! So today was the day...and of course, she did awesome. She had no problem standing on them and skating, but needs to work on stopping again. And because she can't stop the best, she is hesitant to skate fast. But that will come with time.

SSSSsssaturday
What a packed Saturday....Ed started out his day golfing with some neighborhood men in preparation for their fantasy football draft tonight!
And the kids and I started out at the eye doctor for Rowan's annual visit. She got glasses a year ago...for farsightedness. She only wears them for reading, homework, etc. Needless to say, they haven't left their case much this summer. Her eyes this visit are slightly worse, but left versus right eye they are closer to the same...if that makes sense. So she needs new glasses. I was working the new lense angle for her current frames, but insurance covers a whole new pair, so that is what we went with.
Then I started painting in the laundry room!
And when you leave the kids alone too long entertaining themselves, they have fun in the bathroom with hair accessories and products! Crazy hair kids!
If you lost the fantasy football league last year, you had to host the draft this year, and wear a dress! Looking good Ben!

MN State Fair 2016
Was a perfect day for the fair! Not too hot and no rain!
This is our first year doing something like this without a stroller, sad face! So in the back of my mind I was a little nervous...but we survived and the kids did great.
Started out seeing some animals!
Then our first food purchases...soft pretzel and cheese curds!
Then onto rides...
Lots more food intermixed...deep fried pickles, cotton candy, ices, maple glazed bacon donut sliders, red sangria lager, Martha's cookies....etc.
Caught part of the parade, checked out the boats and tractors, people watched from the beer tower, found Gizmo in the crowd, then headed home. We were there for many hours and the kids did great. Occasional need to sit and rest or ride on shoulders...but well done.Thursday, August 25, 2016
injuries and football
Though today our injuries aren't related to football, but gymnastics. Today, Eddie and I dropped Rowan off at gymnastics, left and came back early to watch her. And at some point while she was there she injured her neck. She, nor her coach can pinoint when or how she did it, but when I arrived with 30 minutes left in class, she broke down in tears and needed an ice pack. So after class we went home and gave her some ibuprofen and iced her neck on and off all afternoon. It appears she just strained it somehow, we could feel a bump in her neck muscle. By the evening she was able to more it more and more...
Thankfully, because it was a very nice night for some flag football!
(PS. Rowan's neck was back to normal the next morning!)

Day with Nana and Papa!
Don't let these dogs fool you...they haven't been this well behaved all day! They just finished playing in the basement while Papa and Eddie were playing some knee hockey.
Eddie vs Papa
Us ladies did do a small amount of shopping this morning while Ed started on some ribs for dinner. Practicing for September with some extra mouths to help consume!
Nana brought a new game to try...but while we were playing this said game, her dog was very naughty! See below!
That's what we get for ignoring her apparently. This was after she peed in the mud room, ate a couple of clips from my front door paper blinds, and killed a few of gizmo's toys (thankfully he doesn't play with many). So thankful Gizmo isn't a puppy anymore! But he never did this stuff when he was...
(Eddie was sitting on this chair playing the game while she chewed on it under the table)
