tight quarters...

This weekends trip to WI is a bit snugger than usual. Since the truck is being fixed...we needed to take the car. And we brought Gizmo because he will be staying with Karen and Doug until we go up north for the 4th of July.
We headed to Nana and Papa's house, dropped of Gizmo, and then headed down to Delafield Days for dinner and entertainment. We snacked on a huge pretzel and popcorn and other things...and of course got some face paint too.
Then we headed back to Nana and Papa's to hang out and sleep. The kids decided to climb the tree in their front yard while we were there.

new things...

So...I took the truck in today to have the whole left side replaced due to the deer damage. I chose a place that had free loaner vehicles since we didn't have rental insurance on our auto insurance...therefore this is the beauty you get to drive for free, so I can't complain. As long as it gets me from point A to point B and safely...all is well.
We ordered a new kitchen table and bench over a month ago from a couple in Hugo that has a business handmaking items. We ordered an 8 foot table with 2 18" leaves along with a bench. This is the table with the leaves in it. It is gorgeous.
We are so happy with the finished product! And so excited to be able to accommodate many people when they visit. Now I need a new light above the table because the table makes the light look too small. Always something...

dad's turn

We drove home from IA yesterday and arrived late so that we could have today to get ready for the week and celebrate Ed's birthday too! We were welcomed this morning with some rain...and hail!
And some birthday cake for the new boat owner and expert fisherman!! Happy 35th birthday hun...welcome to the 35 club.

Someone is 90!!

Here is an immediate recap of our fun filled day celebrating Grandpa Dick turning 90....and Ed too a little. Great Grandpa Dicks caregivers came, all of us grandkids and great grandkids, cousins, brother in law, nieces etc. Lots of catching up and fun! Thankfully the weather was wonderful. And per usual, we had way too much food.
Sue and her cousins and brother!
Hudson and I!!
The Smith II Family!
The birthday boys!
All of us with Great Grandpa Dick.
So great to see a smile on his face...but he will be exhausted after we all leave.
Nana made Grandpa Dick a chocolate cake...his favorite. It was delicious. Our kids are generally chocolate lovers when it comes to cake and frosting...but they had multiple pieces each.
And the calm after the storm...Obviously we had to head home at some point. After a fun weekend, it will be a long drive home in our beat up Explorer.
