fever and gymnastics

Well in addition to the normal Monday night gymnastics...Eddie was feeling under the weather today. Fever and then a little diarrhea for this sickness for a couple days.

Silly Sunday

Today we made a frozen smoothie snack. Doesn't seem appropriate for September...but they loved it.

Then there were a few random selfies with Rowan. So many faces she has!

Ed looks good in cupcakes...doesn't he? Ed and Rowan made breakfast this weekend. Saturday was biscuits and gravy (even homemade biscuits) and Sunday was cinnamon wheat pecan waffles. Delish.

Was orange and black day today for homecoming!

Then after school and a quick dinner we were on our way to drop off Rowan to practice before the game...

She got to cheer with the cheerleaders during the first half....here she is in action.

She made a few new friends in addition the her friends from class...

Eddie did well during the first half too...although he fell asleep on our way to the game so he got a little cat nap in and then a little popcorn and candy doesn't hurt either.

Then there was halftime! She got to get up on top!

She did great and had lots of fun.

sweaty september

Picked Eddie up from school today, and he was super sweaty from playing outside. Picture doesn't do it much justice, but who would've thought at the end of September he'd be sweating like this?

I spent the last 2 days dealing with getting a MN license and our plates registered and what not. Wasn't easy. We had to take the written test in order to get our license, I passed with a 94% but I was stressing about it big time. Ed hasn't gone yet. And the plates couldn't be done at the same location as the license and written test so I had to go to another location to find out I didn't have the paper work I needed, and therefore had to go the next day to get that finished. 175$ later, the plates were new on both vehicles. And we just registered in WI in July, both vehicles. Not right.

White Bear Cheer Clinic

Rowan participated in a cheer clinic tonight with the White Bear HS cheerleaders. It was a 1.5 hour clinic where they learned different cheer related things. Then she will get to cheer during the first half of the homecoming game on Friday night and also during half time of the game.

 

She had a lot of fun, thankfully because she was a little under the weather with a slight fever and cold coming on.

They have started incorporating a little conditioning into gymnastics finally...the girls were waiting to run, skip, gallop back and forth across the mats.

reading, sight words and spelling words...

That is the story of every evening in this house. Every Monday Rowan gets 8 new spelling words and then is tested on them on Fridays. She is expected to read or be read to every night as well. And then there are millions of sight words that we are refreshing from kindergarten and then new ones every now and then too. Busy busy.

Uncle Mitch was here for the Packer game today, so we put him to work reading with Rowan a bit too. There is plenty to go around.

Eddie was much more interested in martial arts tonight...but I'm not sure he will venture much past the white belt. Time will tell. He isn't into participating 100% of the class. Sort of wish they would be more insistent on him doing what they want him to do. But he is only 3 I guess?

Glen Ellyn BBQ 2014

Started the day with donuts and coffee. Tried to waste time before heading downtown to freeze our butts off. Stopped at Target to get Nana some gloves, and then we were off to hang out and celebrate in Glen Ellyn.

They had some kid entertainment this year that they didn't have last year. Much enjoyed.

More prep...Dusty did a delicious pork butt for best dish, had some chili for us all to enjoy during the day, and of course ribs too.

After the BBQ we headed back to Dusty and Julies house for a fire, some cards, some pizza and good old fun. It was a long day outside so the night ended quite early. But it sure was a good time. Homeward bound in the am.
