Hugo/Oneka 5K Color Run

This is what my husband was doing in his free time this morning!
All four of us ran in the 5K Color Run this morning...no stroller! And we all did awesome! Eddie needed a piggy back ride a few times, but he finished on his own. I had to sprint at the end again to catch up to Rowan so she wouldn't finish alone! My only complaint this year is the lack of color...we were no where near the end of the runners and stations 3/4 were out of color before we got there. And honestly I don't think any of the stations even hit me with color...boring!
Well done family!
We didn't hang around after the run because we had to get home and shower and open up our garage sale again today! The kids were selling lemonade, suckers and laffy taffy to their friends in the neighborhood. I think they were more lucrative today than the rest of the items in the garage.

Serious snapchatting going on around here...
And this afternoon Sam came back to seal our patio...amazing how much better it looks with just a coat of sealer! Just waiting for the fire pit now and some finishing touches.

Our 1st Garage Sale

There couldn't be a better day to have a garage sale! 85 and sunny with no humidity!

We are open 9-6p today and tomorrow after the Color Run from 1130-6p. We will see how it goes, we are new at this!
And this guy wanted to have a snack...and here is where I found him, Ipad and 3 pound bag of chocolate chips! Honestly! Then he spent the afternoon outside with his friend down the street playing in an inflatable water slide, basketball and some hockey too. Pretty rough day for him.
Since it was such a nice night, after dinner, we hung out outside. We had plans to play bags or something, but we ended up just sitting and chatting. And of course checking out the garage sale loot so Ed thought it'd be funny to check on the neighbors down the street with his paintball gun...unloaded of course. I'm sure they didn't expect much action from a golf cart...

let the work begin

They were here yesterday to dig out the sod for our patio, and returned today to place forms and pour and stamp the concrete!

While these guys were busy working, Eddie and I played the Yahtzee game to remember...we both had 3 yahtzee's each in one game! Pretty crazy because we play a lot of yahtzee in this house and never have we had that happen before!

music and the force

Well, it's Star Wars Day...May the Fourth be with you (on May 4th)!
And today, Rowan's music class has invited parents and family to their class to show off their skills. So she is all dressed up for that today!
Ed came home early to attend with us. The kids did great listening and singing and playing instruments too.
And while he was supposed to be listening...someone was playing in Snapchat.
After some back and forth with Sam (the concrete contractor), we negotiated a price we couldn't pass up and will be moving forward with a stamped concrete patio with a fire pit! Here is a before picture of where the patio will be going!

should we or shouldn't we

This story starts with a couple of our neighbors recommending a gentleman to do concrete work...he poured a concrete slab for a shed for one of them, and a basketball court for another. So we decided to have him come give us a quote for a stamped concrete patio. He is just starting out his own company, so is very reasonable and has shown work he has done in addition to our neighbors jobs.

This is the stamp I picked out and color...we will see what he comes back with!

no school today

...for Eddie. We returned home yesterday late afternoon, and the kids went outside to play for a few hours. When we had them come in for dinner, Eddie complained of a sore throat, but it sort of faded. Then he was up in the middle of the night with a fever, and again this morning. So he got to spend most of his day on the couch relaxing with ibuprofen and Tylenol on board. He actually felt ok other than the fever. Hoping it doesn't turn into anything more!

snapchat

When we were at Casey and Jake's house yesterday, she reintroduced us to snapchat...and we are officially hooked (kids included)! We were dying laughing at some of the funny filters you can add to your face...and face swapping too. Kind of creepy.
Rowan and I face swapping.
