Adults only Dominican Republic

Ed and I headed to the Dominican Republic for a week - Secrets Cap Cana all inclusive.

It was a great week of sun and relaxation. Lots of food and drinks, a few beach walks, pool time, some reading, cards, cribbage and early bed times. We are already too old for the night life.
PB/banana/nutella crepes poolside were my nemesis - another reason I had to workout every day.
Tried a coconut water and rum from the beach - not the best (it was warm)
This was my view every day...poolside hunk.
My forever dinner date.
One day they delivered popsicles and a shot in the pool.
Fish kabobs pool side were my go-to lunch
When your husband pretends you are celebrating your Anniversary!
It was a relaxing week that went too fast. Kids were well taken care of with Nana and Papa. Rowan survived her injury for a week without us. Piper lived her best life with Karen and Doug.
Resort was nice - only complaint about our room was it was close to the lobby, so convenient - but loud at night since there was entertainment in the lobby almost nightly. We managed to fall asleep despite - but the convenience wasn't worth the noise.

twice in 5 months

Worst weekend ever - and a repeat.
Send Ed out of town with Rowan to another state to play hockey - second shift of first game, she commits a penalty, loses an edge, heads shoulder first into boards - and comes out with a penalty and then trip to Urgent Care. And worst scenario - a second Smith broken collarbone in the last 5 months. Can't make this crap up.

She wanted to stay the weekend and watch the girls play. So she spent the rest of the weekend medicating, in a sling, playing coach on the bench in South Bend IN.
Eddie and I joined the Stoudt's for a game of bowling and some Mexican dinner.
We got Rowan into the orthopedic MD Monday morning for the confirmation Xray.
She is showered with sweets from the Stoudt's!
She found a way to join Ed and Eddie in a round of Fort Nite.
Cutest pic from the weekend.
Here goes 4 weeks of a sling - needing help washing hair, putting on socks, tying shoes, getting tops on and off, carrying backpack with one shoulder, etc.

Happy 12th Birthday Eddie!

This is 12 years old! Weighing in at 91 pounds and 5 foot 2.8 inches in 6th grade! This kid is killing it at all things. School is good, hockey is great, braces are going well so far, inhaler is working for exercise induced asthma, baseball is coming up - he's easily hangry, is a good friend, brother and person. He will do great things.
Throwback birthday
Using his new blanket from Nana - who would have thought you can order personalized fabric.

Wrapping up hockey, PFTs, party time

March 7th - March started with the end of year MJA banquet - this was a first for us. There hasn't been one since Eddie started playing 3 years ago. Not much was shared about the youth boys - more about the older kids - but a free meal - and Admirals game, but we had to head out for Rowan's last practice of fun, another parents/girls/siblings skate.

March 8th - Eddie has been having problems with his breathing when exerting himself on the ice this season. His MD orders an inhaler, which he has been using and has been working - (4 puffs before games/practice) but it took months to get in and be seen by Pulmonary at Childrens. So here we are, finally a visit with PFT (pulmonary function testing). Nothing crazy was found - essentially exercise induced asthma - we will continue with the inhaler and follow up if new issues arise.

March 10th - lots of snow arrived, just in time for Eddie's Birthday sleepover. nothing like a few school friends, pizza, snacks, Xbox, knee hockey, and more.

March 12th - and just like that, rink season is over.

Feb 13th - Band concert time - Baritone time
Feb 14th - Getting some shots in in the garage
Feb 15th - Piper gets up close and personal
Feb 16th - Rowan whips up some chocolate mini waffles - oh yum
Feb 18th - Rowan and Mom are on the road for a tournament weekend...and while we are away, Aunt Cheryl makes it one of Eddie's games - proof in the picture!
Feb 25th - another divide and conquer hockey weekend
Rowan at Mullett and Eddie at Pettit (close but overlapping)
Rowan and I were able to make it to the end of season party at Dave and Buster's though
Feb 27th - boys officially wrapped up with a parents/kids skate. I got to run the clock. Glad the kids were able to join this time - Eddie was sick last year.
March 4th - when Mom and Eddie do the penalty box and Rowan comes to visit...
Us hockey Mom's wore the girls jerseys for their last weekend of games too - cute pics all around
