Halloween Eve

Since Halloween is tomorrow, a school day - we took pictures today.
M&Ms this year! (were very popular all around)
Rowan didn't do to bad on her 3rd round of trick or treat tonight - she was with her girls again, this time in Wales. Thankfully she is going to share with her brother who wasn't able to make any of our neighboring trick or treat times. Costumes are just for pictures!

IL and trick or treat

This is a morning after a sleepover with a few buddies.
Lucky for him he could participate since he isn't skating, but despite getting 7 hours of sleep, this was his look for our drive to IL.
Team played Reapers in IL two games, took a rough loss but came back in game two to tie it.

While we were away, Rowan stayed home to play. She and her friends did trick or treat in Hartland around Nana and Papa's neighborhood.

Between games - we had lunch at the Yardhouse.
Eddie ordered two kids meals despite not even skating. Although, I will say, it seems like he is never hungry these days, so eat kid eat.
We left the restaurant to business trick or treat in action. Kids were given bags by Potbelly's and they were on their way to getting some candy.
While we were away, Rowan stayed home to play. She and her friends did trick or treat in Hartland around Nana and Papa's neighborhood. Nana and Papa even ordered them pizza and entertained them with Jack Box TV.

halloween week

Nothing like some weeknight pumpkin carving - real quick before practice tonight.
Whatever works.
Both kids cared all by themselves - Eddie needed someone to hold his still at times.
Amazing work for one hand.
Friday night, Rowan went to Hills Has Eyes, a haunted field with 2 of her friends from hockey. They had a blast.

Annual Bus Trip MJA and first scrimmage

This weekend was the Boys Bus trip to Detroit. I decided to join despite Eddie not being back on the ice. I wasn't able to go last year, and there were many Mom's taking the bus, so why not.
It was a very fun time, but definitely a long trip on the bus.
Boys were great - not too loud and had a blast.

Boys were 1-1-2 on the weekend
Against some tough competition - top 5 teams in US and Canada.
Parents enjoying the sun and fun in the parking lot between games.
Rowan stayed home for the weekend with Nana and Papa so she could attend her teams first scrimmage.
She also was able to hit up Business Trick or Treat in Pewaukee with Blake, Luke, Grandma and Grandpa.

Can't forget the brief visit we had with Cari and the girls. They were able to come watch part of our game on Saturday! Great to catch up! One of her son's, Jake, was playing for the MN Magicians when we lived in MN so we were able to watch one of those hockey games with them.

informant, fall clean up and Bubble Hockey

6th grade 1st hour band informance.
Tonight there was a 30 minute 'concert' put on my Eddie's band class.
They shared all of the things they have learned so far.
I was surprised at how good they sounded - Eddie didn't talk them up well, and he should have.
Even with a shoulder sling - you can play the baritone.
In an effort to get ahead, and because we don't have dumping options - we had a company (Green and White Services) come and cut back our shrubs for winter. Well worth the money!
Best day of Ed's life...bubble hockey has arrived.
First match-up!

Back at Pettit

Ed and the Ads were back at Pettit vs Mission this weekend. They tied and won!
Then there was some white stuff on the ground on Monday morning. Yuck, it's only October.

Week recap

Always glad to have the family back together for some snuggle time. Finally saw Eddie for the first time since his injury - as a parent this has been difficult for me to navigate. I feel awful and sad for him to have to miss out - but also so thankful, because it could be worse. While Eddie has a look of defeat, he really is in pretty good spirits, and is feeling pretty good as long as he doesn't move the wrong way.

Tuesday - Mom got vaccinated (flu shot and booster)

Wednesday - Orthopedic follow up at Children's Clinic in Delafield. Repeat X-rays were done. And the bad news of 12 weeks before he can play competitively on the ice again. Plan is in 4 week increments. 4 weeks (3 more from now) of splinting - follow up at clinic. Then 4 more weeks of no splinting and low intensity lower body exercise possibly. No skating until after 8 weeks and that is no contact - then 4 more weeks (12 weeks total) potentially back at it. The PA said there is a chance it could be slightly shorter depending on healing - but they really don't' want to chance anything because re-breaking just sets him back further.
We opted for the 'new' brace/splint - to allow him more mobility in his elbow (most important to keep his elbow at his side). The wrist can be let free to move around as long as elbow stays immobile. Of course Eddie ended up not loving this new option, but he does wear it at night. Follow up 11/2 - hoping for healing.

Always love a good sweat session. Still running 6-7 days a week, although have moved to the treadmill most days now that it isn't colder out and dark early.

Friday - Eddie joined the team for Film session. Was able to watch the last bit of practice beforehand.

Rowan's 1st Homecoming

While the boys are away in MI playing/coaching hockey, Rowan and I were at home for her first Homecoming.

Started out Friday night at the Football game.
KM beat #1 in the state Mukwonago.
It was chilly and very packed house, so we only stayed through half time, but watched the ending from home.
Then Saturday morning we got nails done, Rowan and her 3 friends, Heidi and I.
Ed sent Rowan and the girls a fun treat for the sleepover!
Then it was pictures at 5p...
 Dinner 530p at Delafield Brewhaus.
Heidi (Caitlin's Mom) and Katie (Owen's Mom) and I had dinner together at our own table while the kids did their thing.
Then 7p - it was off to the dance
The girls weren't sure if the would want to stay for the whole dance, but they made it until 10pm. Then it was back to our house for a sleepover.
The morning after...
