Well, I got a call from Cushing Elementary yesterday at 2:30pm, that Eddie has been exposed to a positive case in his class, therefore the whole class will be going virtual for the next 14 days. And he can't take the bus home, so he needs to be picked up in 20 minutes from school.
This started the work of figuring out where and how we could get him tested so that he could continue to attend hockey practice and potentially still go to Nashville for his hockey tournament next week.
We ended up doing a virtual visit through Froedtert that evening and had a test scheduled for Friday at 9:35 am in New Berlin at the Mooreland Reserve. We had to tell them that he has been exposed to high risk family and that is why he needed to be tested. Which wasn't 100% a lie but maybe a little fib, or else they wouldn't have agreed to test him.
The process of testing was seamless, there was a number to call to be checked in when we arrived, we were the only car there, we pulled in a tent, they swabbed his nose through the car window, and we were done. Piper even got a dog treat, and Eddie a sucker, and then we were on our way home.
We had test results by 11pm, which were NEGATIVE!
So now, as long as he remains asymptomatic until next Wednesday...we plan to head to Nashville.
He will be doing virtual school through October 5th, returning to school the 6th.
