always something...anything for hockey

Eddie was asked to play in a tournament today, with one of the other Warhawk Red teams. The plan was to play the 2 games on Saturday only because one of their players was sick and expected/hoped to be back for Sunday. And we had a game Sunday am that Eddie had committed to playing with the other Red team.

So we headed to Fond du Lac for the day. Played in the two games...then were talked into going to dinner with the team. During this time, they found out they were going to be down the sick player again tomorrow, so they were trying to get us to stay or come back and play tomorrow. At that time we also realized the team Eddie was playing against Sunday morning, was in Fond du Lac's tournament...so would that game even happen??

So dinner was over, and we get a text that the game Sunday is cancelled. So the coaches are trying to tell us to just stay...and play tomorrow too. We discussed our options...go home and come back in am, one of us go home and get clothes and come back...or just go to Walmart, buy the bare essentials and spend the night so kids can swim and adults hang out.

Well, we decided to do #3. We headed to Walmart, spent 100$ on some food, deodorant, underwear, socks, toothbrushes, beer, etc...and spent the night with the team.

And the team took home 1st place! A very unexpected fun weekend where we got to meet new hockey families, and had a blast.
