IL bound...

We started the trek to IL last night...we drove to the Dells and spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Bremberger's to help break up the trip. So it was 3 hours to their house and then another 3-3.5 hours to Glen Ellyn this morning.

When we arrived at Dusty and Julie's house, they were doing some BBQ prep, getting supplies together and loading the truck. And handling a wood delivery they had for the fire pit in the backyard. The kids got put to work right away.
Nana and Papa arrived a few hours later, Ed and Dusty did some more food prep for the BBQ tomorrow. We had some Jimmy Johns for lunch. Sampled some ribs and pork butt for dinner, then headed for dessert...

Uncle Ted joined us this evening too. And dessert was Fro Yo! Our favorite.

Karate and Black eyes...

Eddie gave Ultimate Martial Arts a try today...barely. He refused to go out on the mat at first, so I had to go out there with him for a few minutes. Then he was okay, but that doesn't mean he wanted to participate fully. But he claimed he wanted to do it again next week. So we signed him up and got him the necessary gear.
Looks so professional.
Then there is Rowan. Probably should have prefaced the post that the Karate and Black Eye don't go together. Well, when Rowan got home from school today, she tripped over the dog and hit her eye on the door jam (top left pic) which resulted in an immediate bruise. These pictures are 4 consecutive days...nice little shiner. She is tough though.

Eddie's 1st day of 3K...

What has happened to my baby...he is 3 1/2 and heading to 3K. Sniffle...And he rocked it, even though he said he didn't want to go, he did great.
For Rowan's day today...sporting her Matilda Jane pants. She has been wanting these pants but I have struggled spending the money knowing they will only fit her for a year. But she is so thrilled with them. And they are darn cute on her.
Back to Eddie...successful day! His teacher said he only asked for me once with about an hour left of class. And she ensured him that I would be there in an hour to get him, and he was fine with that. He even brought home artwork on his first day.
Both kids 1st days for 2014!
Eddie looking all grown up.

new things...

Today, Eddie and I tried out a new park we found in the subdivision across the way. It isn't any bigger than the park closer to us, but it is on the way to a few things in town, so why not stop and try it out. Eddie approved.
After school, it is always a race home from the bus stop. Sometimes someone needs to use the bathroom, but usually it is all fun and games.
Tonight Rowan gave gymnastics a try for the first time. She loved it. She is attending Flips Gym in White Bear Lake. She starts out in Flips 1, it is intended to continue all school year and they advance them to the next class as they prove their skills. We will see if she keeps the interest and enjoyment.

garage progress...

We have done many small projects around the house, one of which has been Ed gradually getting the garage organized with shelving for storage. Today we added bike mounts. Progress is progress.

Neighbors...

The kids have become friends with our immediate neighbors, Elaina and Drew. Elaina is in kindergarten this year and Drew is 12 days older than Eddie. The boys even sorta look alike. They sure have fun together.

Packer Pride...

Despite moving to Viking country, we still have Packer Pride. Go Packers!
