sleepover

We had a sleepover with The Schuett's this weekend! Aaron, Andi, Breyson and Sawyer came to visit us yesterday and spent the night! We really didn't do anything exciting because of the weather, but boy did the kids have fun. Rowan showed them a little 'girl' playtime, and got her fair share of 'boy' playtime too. Breyson is definitely all boy with his take downs, and before they left, Rowan had both boys in play heels too. I have a video that I still need to upload, stay tuned!

Don't know why we thought we would ever get a picture of 4 kids looking in the same direction, but we tried. And that is about all the pictures I attempted all weekend! Next time.

And best part of the weekend for both Andi and I, we spent Saturday evening/night going through each others baby clothes. This is the pile of boy clothes we got from them! This is after a day and a half of laundry! And this only goes up to 9 months, barely! So much more is to come. And Andi left with 2 totes and a garbage bag full of girl stuff up to 12 months! Nothing better than free shopping!

any recommendations?

Well, he hated the Alimentum. He choked down one feeding for me yesterday morning, and the second feeding he was crying while trying to choke it down, so I stopped the madness. What a waste of 25$, but what good can it do for his belly if I can't even get it in him, and what is $25 when it comes to my son's happiness?

So I tried Soy for the rest of the day since I still had some, and by the late afternoon he was crying and choking down Soy too. So I guess at this point the Similac Sensitive has been tolerated the best so that is what we used through the night.

But he still slept like poop. Even worse actually! We maybe got 1.5 hours out of him in the swing, and then 1.5 hours in bed with me (by accident) and eventually another hour in the swing before Rowan was up. He ate better but still wasn't happy after eating! And of course was happy as a lark when in my arms sleeping.

Now we are going to try Mylicon gas drops and see if that helps anything. After that, I am out of ideas! Help!

cold trip with 2

I didn't think Eddie would get to wear this super cute winter hat because of the time of year, but only in WI would we need the winter hats in April!

I ventured out with both kids alone for the first time today! Due to a very rough night last night and the night before, I needed to go to Walmart and purchase my last resort formula, Alimentum. Last night, we had a feeding frenzy from 7-10pm, and then finally sleep at 11pm. He finally slept in the swing after trying every other option other than in bed with me! The boy wanted to eat, but wasn't comfortable when eating, then would cry, then fall asleep, then I would put him down, and minutes later he was writhing himself awake! I even tried putting him on his stomach (unbelievable I know it) and that didn't work. Swaddled, unswaddled, side, back, stomach, swing, head elevated, head flat, nothing worked! So we are going to try Alimentum and see if it is the one thing we have been missing all along! Cross our fingers!

Oh and the shopping trip went pretty well. Minus the lack of room for groceries in the cart. Of course I needed other things than just formula! But we made it work. And Rowan listened pretty well, and Eddie slept through the entire trip. Needless to say, we left right after Eddie ate, went in our pajamas, and were home by 9am. Success. But takes a lot of planning to do, and that was even without showering and dressing! I fit right in at Walmart!

enough is enough

Rowan sure loves her brother, but she doesn't understand when he has had enough. About the only time she will smile is when she is holding her brother. Whenever you ask Rowan what her brothers name is, she says Baby Eddie, hoping she drops the Baby part eventually or the poor boy with graduate from high school known as Baby Eddie!

1 Month old...

...and looking so grown up already! Especially with his little polo! As you can see, he is not always so content! If only he could tell us his ailments!

beautiful day...

We got to enjoy an hour or so of beautiful weather today. Karen and Doug came up to visit for the morning and bring Gizmo home! Which we greatly appreciate! So we got to take Rowan outside to play on her swingset and some of her outdoor toys as well. Eddie got to go outside for a brief walk as well. Still a little chilly for him, plus we haven't invested in a hat to block the sun yet, so unless he was happy in the stroller, we didn't have many options for him outside. So it was nice to have a few extra hands to get Rowan outside. I even got to do a little raking while Karen tended to Eddie for me. After lunch Karen and Doug headed home and the rest of us took a much needed nap. We enjoyed their time here!

1 Month MD visit

Statistics:
Weight: 10 pounds (50th percentile)
Height: 21.75 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 38.5 cm (50th percentile)

This visit was rather uneventful! Thankfully. Hoping that this weight gain slows down, a pound a week is a bit much. But that shows in his eating and in relation to the supposed 3 week growth spurt. But out little guy is very average in the 50th percentile across the board! Very proportionate!

We talked about whether or not the Zantac is making a difference. I personally am not sure it really is. He has been sleeping better but not sure if that is just him eating more and getting bigger, or if it is the meds. He still refluxes obviously, the medication isn't going to make it go away, but it still wakes him at times. Not sure if that is any less. Ed on the other hand seems to think it has made a difference. So we will see. We are going to adjust his dose now that he is a month old, and has gained another pound, so we will see if this doubled dose changes anything too. The doctor said if we think we still have issues with the formula we could still try Alimentum, but I think we are okay on what we are on. We will see.

I thought he would have to get vaccines today, but not until his 2 month check up. Phew!

Otherwise, physically he checked out great. He has a small umbilical hernia that the MD isn't concerned about. Apparently if they need fixing they don't do it until 2-3 years old.

I guess that is about it!
