no more ice...

So...guess winter is gone for now in WI..rink is melting away.  (November 21)
And it's fundraiser delivery time...pointsettias and city tins are in. And in a few days, wreaths for hockey too.
Finally, stuffed pepper soup is in at the Picnic Basket. Been waiting all Fall for it.
Then this happened...we have been gifted an electric scooter from Jim and Marc Grabowski...more to come with the plans for this gem.
Then...the wind blew just right, and 3/4 of our rink drained out. A corner that wasn't secured down, blew into the rink, and away the water went. Grrr...(November 22)

basketball game 1 and MWT Heartland Meet

Eddie has his first basketball game today. His team is the Lasers. They won their first game, Eddie had 8 points in a 22-20 win. Not bad for his first basketball game ever.

Then it was onto the MWT Heartland Meet in Hartland.

Rowan did great! Bars 9.35, Beam 9.1, Floor 8.75, Vault 8.050 AA 35.25

At the end they did a handstand contest...And Rowan was one of the last 3 standing. It was amazing for her. Wish I would have videoed it. Caught her still up at the last second though.
And as a team, they took 1st place!
Biggest fab group yet I think...

Dusted off my hockey skates on Sunday morning too. Weather was perfect.

friday eve

When you have some downtime in a meeting...
Brought out the rink rake...and rigged up a Zamboni from our hot water heater in the basement.
Worked like a charm.

Then he had to go and mess up the nice smooth ice.

Might as well practice your celebrations right away as well.

Rink progress

Tuesday

Wednesday...

Finally frozen and added some lighting! Why wouldn't you come home from hockey practice, and head straight to the basement to build the supports for the lights? He is just a big kid.
Wasn't a warm one tonight...and was late. So only skated for a bit to try out the new set up. Seems to work great.
Now I guess it is time to replace Rowan's outgrown hockey skates.

Representing...

Finally getting this kid to branch out from Warhawk jerseys...he has worn Larkin now a few practices, now pulled out the White Beark Lake gear!! Hard to miss him out there in this.

never enough...

Why wouldn't we add one more sport to our chaotic hockey and gymnastics schedules this fall/winter?

Eddie has had this new found interest in basketball for the last many months. So when I saw the opportunity for recreational basketball, I had to offer it. And of course, he grabbed it up. Today was the first practice at KMMS. It went well, he is on the Lasers. These teams are 3rd and 4th graders. There are about 7 kids on the team, of which he only knows 1. But that is fine, time to make new friends. He was called, 'fancy shoes', by his coach. Great Aunt Karen spoiled him and bought him basketball shoes...and we couldn't get the cheap ones. Had to go for the Giannis version.
After basketball, we picked up Rowan from practice...then headed home to find Ed had been knee deep in our next project. Operation rink in the backyard. This is how far we got on Saturday...
Then Sunday we added the liner...and started filling with water. We started filling at 11am Sunday...and it was full at 6am Monday morning.
Pictures are in...our Mite Red 2 all star!!

weekend of accomplishments

We started out our last year of Mite hockey for Eddie this weekend, Saturday morning 8am in Ozaukee! Eddie score a personal high, 10 goals in the game. With a handful of assists as well. Sadly, despite those high numbers, they still couldn't pull off a win. It was a close game but with over 20 goals scored by each team. Perhaps if they would have set goalies at the Mite level this wouldn't be the case. Lily was our first goalie of the year. And sadly, no one on our team is excited about having to be in net. So may not be a winning season d/t our goalie situation. But, in the end, Eddie had a lot of ice time (we only have 7 skaters)...skated circles around the other team, and will grow in his short game this season.
Ed, coaching the kids while they get a rest....
Sweaty Eddie, skated his butt off!
Then in the afternoon, we were on the road to Kenosha for the Scamps Fall Invitational for Rowan!
Rowan continues to achieve personal bests every meet it seems. Today it was bars and floor. And the Level 4's pulled off a second place win too!

 Floor 8.65, Vault 8.3, Bars 9.4, Beam 8.75 Overall 35

On our way home, we stopped at Champps for dinner in Brookfield.
Sunday morning, we were back at the rink, with quite the fan club. Should have taken a picture.
Nana, Papa, Grandma Julie, Grandpa Kris, Karen, Doug, Don, Tina and Rob (Don's kids), Amanda, Peter, Blake and Luke! So much love!
While he didn't have double digit goals this game, he walked away with 4. He back checked like a beast and was once again a sweaty beast. This kid can skate and works his butt off on the ice. He earned his breakfast at Maxims with The Stoudt's!

So proud of both of these kids this weekend.
These are the weekends and accomplishments we live for as parents.
