Rowan's new BFF
Matt joined us at the lake today. And he gained a new friend immediately. He made the mistake of making a few sand castles for Rowan in the morning, and he then had a shadow for the rest of the day. He secretly loved it though! They did bubbles, played ladder ball, and built more castles! Rowan loved the attention. Not that she didn't get it from others too, but Matt was a new face and new entertainment!

fireworks
together forever
I was very sad that I didn't get any pictures of the kids together in their red, white, and blue earlier in the day, but these will have to do. It was a quick little photo opportunity between dinner and the mosquitos! Nevermind their blood shot tired eyes!
Luckily she still loves him!
Can you tell Eddie has a new friend? His feet!
16 Weeks Old
Wasn't easy (as you can see) to get many smiley pictures of the happy boy when we were out of town. It was a long day in the heat, and therefore when we got outside in the evening to take some pictures, he wasn't so interested in the camera! But can't let a week go by undocumented, at least not yet!
Conover Day 2
Happy 4th of July!
This morning we were in the water for awhile before heading to town to the parade. It was very hot and not so windy today, so the parade was a bit unbearable! Eddie hung out in his bouncy seat in the back of the truck to stay out of the sun, but the breeze was obviously even less in there.
Rowan enjoyed the parade way more this year than last year. Last year she was hiding in the back of the truck from the bands, and sirens and whatever else that may have been loud. This year she just chilled in her chair sipping her kiddy cocktail and hoarded candy and treats. One float even handed out Mr. Freeze pops! They were perfect for the hot day!
On a side note, we had a bit of a scare today. We used a beach umbrella for Eddie's shade the last 2 days. We had to put it in an umbrella stand because the ground was too hard to get it in the sand. And today it was so windy we had to attach a weight to the umbrella so it wouldn't blow out of the stand. Well, we got a gust big enough that it did manage to blow the entire umbrella, weight and all, out of the stand while Eddie was sleeping underneath it, and the weight hit Eddie in the head. I was scared big time, because it was a concrete boat weight, although I didn't see it actually happen (Ed did, and was a bit speechless for awhile). Poor Eddie was crying and very unhappy for little while. You can sort of see the bruise on his left forehead above. He is tough and survived. But I was sweating for awhile.

The group!
After the parade, we headed back to the cabin to hit the water instead of heading to the tractor races. Just too hot for kids to not be in the water! As you can see, both kids got their play time in with all the adults again! Spoiled little things! On a side note, we had a bit of a scare today. Conover WI
Day 1
We arrived last night around 730pm. The drive was tolerable minus the bazillion times we had to stop for Rowan to go to the bathroom. A few stops were at gas stations and a few were in abandoned lots with the potty seat. It definitely added 30 minutes + to the trip. But we have to trust her when she says she has to go, right?
So we spent the day in the water and in the sand. Eddie chilled out in his bouncy seat for a bit and napped in the shade. Rowan played in the sand, on the swings, in the water. She made many new friends too. Adults of course, but they were just as good as kids her age, if not better. I mentioned the potty seat earlier, as you will see, it made an appearance everywhere we went! So much easier than running to the nearest bathroom.
In the afternoon Karen brought out her birthday gift for Rowan (she wanted her to be able to use it for the week we were there) And of course, Karen got a cake for her too (as well as balloons)! It was an ice cream cake (probably our favorite) so we had to eat fast before it melted. Rowan got a new sun chair as you can see. Too cute.
This is what happens when you play all day and don't take a nap! You fall asleep in your Mommy's arms at the dinner table! Oh well!
