Cereal...

..in the living room = Naughty!

So Rowan had cereal for breakfast this morning. Decided she was done, but I left the bowl on the table. A short while later she came back for more. Then while I was cleaning up in the kitchen, I noticed that she, and the cereal bowl were missing from the table.

Yup, sure enough, she took it to the coffee table in the living room and was standing and eating while watching television! Luckily the milk mess wasn't too bad. But that will never happen again. Not sure where she learned that one from.

Oh, and she is sporting her newest pajama addition. 'Momo' courtesy of Nana. These are all she wants to wear now. I have a feeling they will wear out fast due to all the washing and wearing!

6:40 am...

it's a miracle...

That is how late Rowan slept today! She hasn't slept past 6am since she has been sleeping in a big girl bed. She has been doing pretty well overall. There has only been 1 night that she has gotten out of bed in the middle of the night, but she went back to sleep after being escorted back to her room. But getting up at 530am on average, everyday, makes for an early nap! Last night she even slept through the very loud thunder! IMpressive!

Random pictures to come later of Rowan's recent obsessions!

Flower Girl to be...

Rowan is going to be a flower girl in Dusty and Julie's Wedding in November. Here is her dress! Just ordered it today! Rowan and Julie's niece, Kaitlin are going to be flower girls, and Kieran and Tommy (Julie's nephew) will be ring bearers! Super cute! Hope she makes it down the aisle!

Weekend in Milwaukee...

We were in Milwaukee this weekend for our one and only Brewer game of the summer. My Mom and I got tickets for her and Ed's birthdays this year at Friday's Front Row Grill. I really shouldn't take any credit for it, she did all the work. And it was worth it.

We arrived Saturday afternoon. Had lunch at Karen and Doug's house, and dropped off the dog. Doug was in charge of Gizmo and Cadillac for the weekend. Then we headed to the hotel in Brookfield and took Rowan swimming. Then we headed to the Brewer Game and Karen watched Rowan for us at the hotel. We were originally going to take her to the game with us, but in the end decided it wouldn't be worth it. She wouldn't have sat still and therefore not made the seats worth it for the rest of us. And of course Karen was more than happy to watch her.
As you can see from the pictures from the game, I didn't have anyone really wanting their picture taken. So they are limited. But the table was well worth it. It was very nice being waited on during the game for drinks and food. It was a different view to have balls flying at us, but I think it is easier to pay attention when you are closer to the action. Definitely an experience I wouldn't give back though. We were right above the Brewers bull pen, so we got the see the pitchers up close and personal.
Turns out Rowan fell asleep at 615pm for Karen, due to her lack of napping during the day. But then she was awake when we got back from the game. So we hung out for a short while and then headed to bed. And we were up before 6am, as usual. So we were in the pool before 8am after breakfast. It is entirely to early to be up before 6am, but it is amazing the things you can get done when up that early.
So after swimming, we cleaned up, packed up and headed to pick the dog up from Karen and Doug's. And Rowan was asleep in the car before we even made it from Brookfield to Pewaukee. Therefore we headed home. Rowan slept the entire ride home, and we even got a nice nap in the later afternoon, which was much needed by all.

The Mini Artist...

Here are a few more pieces of art that Rowan has brought home from daycare in the last couple weeks. Too bad they can't spell her name right every time. (You probably can't see at the bottom of the fish, they put an 'e' in her name)
On a random note, I am irritated with daycare today because today is the 2nd time I have picked Rowan up and she has had tears in her eyes. The first time they told me that she was sad that the other kids were going home with their parents and it wasn't her turn yet. In our defense, I don't think she has ever been at daycare later than 5pm. But then today, she looked sad and had been crying, and the lady had no idea why because she was 'busy' doing something else. I'm sorry but if my child is crying I expect them to find out why immediately. That is my story. Needed to vent! I guess I should be glad that she didn't get hurt by someone else again. Oh, actually never posted about that. Last week Ed had to sign a sheet because another kid kicked Rowan in the head. She didn't have any owie, but still, not cool!

Hurray for Prego CMcR...

Here is a little background information before I start this post....

My dear friend from St. Joe's delivered her first child, Amelia, when she was only 23 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Amazing Amelia (March of Dimes team name) was a fighter and clearly survived her battle early on and is now 4 years old and doing awesome. Needless to say, this was a very stressful and emotional time for Cora and Jason. After much planning and preparation, Cora and Jason are expecting their 2nd child. This pregnancy has been very different for Cora, much more early on intervention and therefore she is now past 23 weeks and 4 days with minimal issue and another baby girl still in the womb.

So today, my girlfriends planned a party/gathering for all of us to get together and celebrate this emotional time of gestation that Cora has seen lurking around the corner. Instead of her sitting at home on modified bedrest re-living the day of Amelia's delivery alone, we celebrated it with all of us whom took care of the little peanut and have watched her grow. Of course Cora still had emotions to deal with, but now that the date is behind her, she is now counting down the many more days of being pregnant she will have with baby #2, also a girl if you didn't catch that earlier on.

So Amy opened her house to us Mommies and Kids, and we had a delightful lunch, and dessert and played outside and got to catch up. It was well worth the trip to see these fabulous caring ladies that I miss so much. And Rowan enjoyed her long lost friends as well, even if it did take some warming up for her to detach herself from my hip.
Thank you Amy for having us, we appreciate it!

Weekend at home...

This weekend ended up being rather low key and relaxed at home. Our plans changed a few times, and this is how it ended up. Which was nice, because they are few and far between usually!

Saturday morning we headed to the Farmers Market in Appleton in the humid mist, then a few stops on the way home. Menards (decided to finish last closet in spare bedroom), Rogan's Shoes (Ed needed new steel toe boots for his new position, which he will finally be starting next week), and Chipotle for Lunch! Then home for naptime!

Oh, I need to back up. We got daring on Friday night and decided to convert Rowan's crib into a toddler bed (which was merely removing the front of the crib). And surprisingly so far it is going okay. She fell asleep friday night without intervention, and slept the entire night without leaving the bed, from 8p-630a. Woke up briefly at 5am and cried, but went right back to sleep. Then nap on Saturday went fine except I had to stay in the room with her for about 5 minutes until she fell asleep. Same thing with going to bed Saturday night. But this morning she was up at 530am! Which is at least 30 minutes too early. But she did make it the entire night. And then nap today was only an hour! So really not too bad for the first few nights!
Rowan was a great helper when Ed was building the shelving for the closet. She kept handing him screws whether he wanted them or not.

Tonight for dinner we made homemade pizza! It was delicious! And Rowan has been drinking chocolate milk with meals with me which is a big step. And we think she actually likes it! I think she drank it in the beginning because she liked drinking out of a big girl cup. But lately she asks for more, so I think she truly likes it!

Oh, and the other random picture of Rowan in the collage is her watching videos of herself. There used to be videos as old as when she first started walking, and then she started deleting things off, so now we randomly have to record new videos for her to watch. Usually all of us singing nursery rhymes that she likes, nothing we would share with the public of course!

On a side note...I am starting to think maybe we should have gotten rid of the pacifier before converting her crib, but that is another hurdle we will deal with further down the road. Just not looking forward to it!
